BIOGRAFIA
Arseny Zhilyaev (nato nel 1984, Voronezh, URSS) è un artista con sede a Venezia. Indaga le possibili storie future dell’arte, utilizzando il museo come mezzo. I progetti dell’artista sono stati esposti alla Manifesta 13 di Marsiglia, alle Biennali di Shanghai, Gwangju, Liverpool, Lione, Riga, Salonicco e Triennale di Lubiana, nonché alle mostre al Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo (Parigi); de Appel (Amsterdam); HKW (Berlino); Fondazione Kadist Art (Parigi e San Francisco); GAM (Torino), MAMbo (Bologna). Zhilyaev si è laureato all’Università statale di Voronezh (2006); Istituto d’Arte Contemporanea di Mosca (2008); e MA International Program, Valand School of Fine Arts, Göteborg, Svezia (2010). L’artista è professore ospite alla NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) di Milano. Ha tenuto conferenze e masterclass al MoMA, Brooklyn Museum, Bard Graduate Center, CUNY (New York); Tate Modern, Whitechapel (Londra); Università di Princeton (New Jersey). Zhilyaev è cofondatore dell’Istituto del Cosmo (insieme ad Anton Vidokle), dell’Istituto per la Padronanza del Tempo (insieme ad Asya Volodina) e del Museo dei Musei, Venezia. È editore di un’antologia Avant-Garde Museology (e-flux, University of Minnesota Press, V-a-c Press, 2015) e pubblica articoli su e-flux e su Mosca Art Magazine. Le opere di Zhilyaev sono nelle collezioni della Tate Modern (Londra); M HKA, Museo (Anversa); Fondazione Kadist Art (Parigi, San Francisco); MSU (Zagabria).

PREMI
Arseny Zhilyaev is the winner of the "Innovation VI" Russian state award in the sphere of contemporary art, the special prize of Stella Art Foundation in 2010, the Russian award "Soratnik 2010" and "Soratnik 2012" ("Companion-in-Arms"). The artist was nominated for the international Visible Award 2013. In 2013-2014 he got a scholarship within the program of Contemporary Art Museum “Garage” (Moscow) to support young Russian artists. Zhilyaev was a resident at Kadist Art Foundation (Paris and San Francisco, 2013-2014) and Headlands Center for the Arts (San Francisco, 2016).
